What Does God Really Want… ?

We are living in an age of deconstructing and warring religions. A time when we are turning our backs on the old ways of control and fear. Many of us now believe there has to be something better than that. And we are finally waking up to the fact that we can empower our own dreams, too.

What we don’t understand is that God agrees. There is something way bigger than religion. God says we are made in his image and likeness. If we are made like God and if he experiences fear like us, his fear would be about the loss he would experience if we throw him out along with the religion.

See, God is the one who keeps putting those dreams in our hearts. He is the one who plants them and waters them until we want to begin actively living them ourselves.

When we choose to do that, we create two paths with our free will. One where we take over the dream and try to create it alone. And another where we embrace God’s power and co-create our dream together, heightening  and expanding it with the playful and powerful energy of the Divine Creator himself.

We are so blessed, and God doesn’t start things he doesn’t intend to follow through on. So we can count on those blessings continuing. We just have to count on them with open and respectful hearts… offering trust and reciprocal love to our Creator.

My life is so happy and abundant right now… because I found a truth in my journey that can sustain me long-term. One that changes everything.

I finally know what God wants.

God does not need our sacrifice, or our bowing, or even our religious devotion. We miss the mark with those. Because what he really wants is our delight and our playfulness and our friendship.

He wants to talk things over with us in the quiet moments. And he wants to be loved like he loves us. It is not just about being thankful or grateful. Those are good and benefit us personally, but God wants something more… for himself.

What God really loves is when he is able to delight us. He melts when we let him witness that emotion as it is happening. Why?

Because our delight is what delights God. Cool, hey?

Do you know that in french the word DE means OF? So, to me, de-light means Of The Light.

Maybe we have heard churches say that we are supposed to be in the world but not Of The World. We let that idea cause division because we don’t really understand what it means. But, when we phrase it from a different direction, we unlock a different secret… one that blesses the world instead of dividing it.

God wants us to be Of The Light with him. God wants us to be De-lighted with him.

Wow…! That’s a very different message, isn’t it? One with great promise… because God will always bless us if he knows those blessings will cause our recipricated love and light to grow within the divine friendship. And he also knows that our shared friendship with him will go beyond and bless the world with its own combined magic.

Too often, we hold that delight back from God, though. Ho hum… Gee, thanks. Or we engage our minds in order to force what is actually obligatory praise. We offer surface gratitude but we don’t let it change our hearts. Then we don’t understand why the joy doesn’t last.

What God really wants is for us to just share the true feelings inside our hearts with him. Then he can teach us the divine secrets of Joy. We spend most of our lives searching for Happiness… but the actual emotion with power is Delight.

I have started doing a physical Happy Dance for things I ask for even before I get them. You would not believe the kind of power that delight opens up. It’s so cool.

So if the Creator began a delight-filled work in us, or for us, we can be sure that he will follow through. It blesses us, everyone around us, and it blesses him too.

The only work for us then, is to make that love relationship as reciprocal as we can. That’s all he wants. Because that is at the core of the dreams he has planted in our hearts.

Those vague dreams that we have inside are going to do big things. And God hopes to be included. He works around our free will as best he can to bring our dreams in. Blessing us in the ways that are bigger than we are.

When we share the struggle and the delight, the love becomes reciprocal automatically. By including him, we bless him in ways that are bigger than he is, too. How is that possible?

The delight we offer God is something he cannot achieve without us. Wow, hey?

I don’t live to please God anymore. I live to delight him. And I just love watching the Creator at work. It’s probably my favorite thing to do. 🙂

I giggle at the secret signs and hidden messages he sends for me. And he delights in my giggles. When I can identify God inside me as that quiet voice in my heart, he feels known and deeply loved.

And when I trust him with my biggest ideas, big things happen. Especially if I invite him to play freely in my life. Oh boy! Then he helps me brave the crumbling of my old comfort zones and he delights in my victory as I break out of my own inner prisons.

When we create this kind of reciprocal friendship with God, we open the doors for all the blessings and powers that are Of The Light. And God has a lot of those that he can’t wait to share… with each of us. We just have to make room for him to enter our house.

So what about you?

Whether you know it or not, you are so blessed. If you can believe in God’s love enough to begin watching for those blessing, he will delight you. When you build a deep and daily friendship with God, your free will makes room for him and a deep relationship begins.

With the power of that team effort, you will surpass all your dreams… and many more you haven’t noticed yet… so many things God has been planting and watering within you. And those dreams wait for you, whether you belong to a religion or not.

So lets take just a few more minutes to go there.

If you are religious, remember to treat God the way you want to be treated. That is the Golden Rule, after all. Give him all the feelings. Not just the appropriate or formal ones. Your whole heart, not just bits of it. You want the full expression of his powerful love, too. Not just the appropriate or formal bits of his power, right?

If you are moving away from religion and into your own free thinking, I believe God is excited. Anticipating the fun you will have together as you learn and merge with his personal powers. As you create something new with each other… and because of each other.

If you never bought into religion because you believe that church is all about fear and control, just dont throw God out with the rest of the religious ideas, ok? That would devastate him. And seriously cripple your own efforts. Like trying to cut down a tree with a chainsaw you don’t know how to turn on. 🙂

When you invite God to play in your life, you can know that the power, blessing and help will continue because they benefit both of you. And that shared love can change the world because it benefits everyone else, too.

See? God wants your dreams just as much as you do. He wants to add his power and teach you how to perfect your own. He wants to grow you and grow with you.

Maybe you never knew, but this is God’s dream come true. This is what he desperately longs for. Our love, our giggles, our tears and our trust… these intimate moments create the biggest gift you can give God.

One last secret? Reciprocated Divine Love grows as it bounces back and forth between you. And Divine Love knows no bounds, my friend. Except for the ones you choose to put on your relationship.

B, just B…
… Of the Light
